Real experiences shared with permission from parents
I am the proud mother of three neurodivergent children. They have always been a source of pride and joy to our whole extended family. Unfortunately, formal schooling brought many obstacles in their paths and created anxiety for the whole family. Over the years we had a lot of support in place for the children, but none of it seemed to be helping. With our middle child, we experienced a lot of school refusal, sleep problems, refusal to socialise and moodiness.
By chance, we were referred to Dr. da Silva and what a difference this has made to our family. Dr da Silva knows just the right way to communicate with the children and the family. She conducts thorough assessments and makes recommendations based on the outcomes of the assessments. This means therapies, medication and support can be targeted in specific areas.
Her advice for day-to-day strategies is very useful, and she will get the children’s buy-in – getting enough sleep, going out to socialise and limit screen time to a reasonable amount. She will set them targets and hold them accountable.
All three our children are doing very well under her care. They continue with therapies and some of them medication. They all go to school happily, sleeping properly and socialising. I feel we have some sense of normalcy back in our lives.
If you, any teacher or therapist suspect autism spectrum disorder or ADHD in your child, I highly recommend having a full assessment done by Dr. da Silva. Early intervention and support can make a big difference in a neurodivergent child’s quality of life and can be managed very successfully.
We are deeply grateful for the way Dr da Silva has worked collaboratively with us as parents while navigating our teenager’s diagnosis, which is complex and emotionally demanding. She is thoughtful, thorough, and open to consulting with colleagues when needed.
She also has an exceptional professional network and refers on to highly respected specialists who are leaders in their respective fields, which has given us great confidence in the care our child is receiving.
Her level of support goes far beyond what one would normally expect – she is compassionate, truly caring, and consistently follows up. In what has been a long and difficult journey with our teenager, it feels as though someone is finally holding us and walking alongside us. She is an outstanding professional and someone I would recommend without hesitation.
– Parent of teenager
From our very first appointment, Dr da Silva made us feel heard, supported, and understood. Her depth of knowledge in the neurodevelopmental space, particularly around autism and ADHD, gave us real confidence that our son was in the right hands.
What truly sets her apart is her accessibility and genuine care. She makes herself available, is easy to communicate with, and approaches every discussion with clarity and empathy. We never feel like we are simply attending a once-off consultation – we feel like we have a partner walking this journey with us.
We are deeply grateful for her ongoing guidance and would highly recommend her to any family seeking thoughtful, evidence-based neurodevelopmental care.
– Parent of Jackson
Dr Sonia combines rare humanity with directness that immediately puts families at ease. When our son was diagnosed with ADHD, we felt uncertain about the road ahead, but she calmly guided us through what to expect and reassured us every step of the way.
She recommended an excellent occupational therapist who has made a real difference in Jackson’s progress but what truly sets her apart though, is her personal commitment. She has always maintained clear and prompt communication with us. She even takes the time to call personally to check on Jackson’s development, which speaks volumes about her care and dedication.
We are incredibly grateful to have Dr Sonia walking this journey with our family.
